Can this bush be changed?

On the cross member numbered 300 can the bush be swapped out rather than replacing the whole arm?
If so does anyone have a part number for it?

It can be changed but I don’t know the part number . I bought new Lemforder arms from AUTODOC when I did mine because it was DIY , if I had to get someone to change the bush for me it was probably the same cost as me buying the whole arm .
 
If that's the upper front control arm, look up Corteco 80001825. The price seems about the same as the whole control arm and you get a new ball joint thrown in.
 
Thanks - I had new lower ball joints fitted a month or so ago and the bushes in these are the only original bushes remaining. I had the other control arms changed yesterday but still have a creaking noise when steering and moving off when stationary and reversing. I'm hoping replacing these bushes may solve this.
Both bushes on the other arms were worn on the inside.

Bit confusing the vin diag shows it as cross member. I had the front lower control arms replaced yesterday, so I'm guessing you are correct. thanks
 
Fine, but do you need a big press to remove and refit it??

Mercedes has specific control arm bushing tools that you can use in place of a shop press. I had them for my W210. You might also be able to get away with using a long bolt and different sized sockets if you're creative enough.

My indie Alex Crow will be fitting these and they have a press to do this. tx
 
I had these bushes changed on my W204.

After seeing what's involved, I regretted not simply buying the complete arm.

They used a press to get the bush out, then used a grinder to make the new bush fit, and pressed it in.

In contrast, simply replacing the complete arm would have been cheaper (given the additional labour cost).

It might make sense financially if you're doing the job yourself, but then make sure you have access to a press.

And Also don't forget wheel alignment once the job is done.
 
Can be done , but as said , replacing the whole arm is the best bet . I have just had a bad experience with teh FEBI ones I replaced on my C55 . Worn out after 13K gentle miles.

Thanks - is that replacement with MB arms or lemforder?

I used genuine MB hydrobushes, however in retrospect that's another thing I regret doing - the genuine ones failed at 35,000 miles, which is premature in my opinion (and also it's a 'known issue'), so buying the same make and model might not have been the best option - perhaps what I should have done instead is buy good quality bushes from a different manufacturer, e.g. Lemforder.

In short, if I had this issue now, I would have bought two Lemforder arms complete with bushes and ball joints (assuming they make them - I didn't actually check).
