I certainly don't get near the higher miles that some do, but I like driving and I really like what I do.
It helps having a big Mercedes to relax in while doing the commute.

At the opposite end of the scale, I recently came across a 1931 Austin 7 with a genuine 2000 miles. The vendor was only looking £22000 for it !

This last 12 months is the first time I've not be doing aroiund 30K a year. I drive 4 miles a day to the train station and back but have still managed to put a 1000 a month on my car.

Plus I use the wifes ML a lot at weekends as its the family car. Thats done 7K since bought new in sept. The wife just does the school run and trips to her mates/parents in it.

crazy mileages - I wonder why we put up with these kind of lifestyles.

Surely it is a better life living in a hut on a beach in a sunny climate, doing a spot of fishing for your dinner?

I swapped my driven commute for a train commute, I average 4 hours a day to and from work. I'll excluse all the issues in the bad weather we have had this year which means my trains frequently cancelled and I am left stranded for an extra hour...

Why do I do it? I could move closer to work, in the last 14 years the closest job I have had has been 50 miles away. But I live in a lovely part of the country, good schools, friends, family etc. I could get a lower paid job local to me but I wouldn't be able to enjoy all the nice things.

Living in a hut on a beach somewhere hot would be great but get very boring, I wouldn't be able to give my family everything they have now and I think my kids would miss out on a lot of schooling.

Just my thoughts.
