Anyone done this or similar? Looks like fun and would be good to have feedback if anybody has some.

Cheers!

:)

seen it this year i passed a few cars on motor-way they were mostly new cars sponsored buy company with wannabe celb in them

would be fun if they had it for every one

Sounds like a good idea, but from the east coast to the west coast can be done in less than 2 hours :D, somewhat not the same as in the US, I would be up for it though if it was mapped out thoughtfully

From what I have looked at they string it out over 3 days, making it more of a grand auld tour. Dublin to Cork, Cork to Westport, Westport to Kilkenny.

You could always try the UK unofficial Cannonball run ;) John o Groats to Lands End just like the American one with the same rules ;)

I'd quite like to do one of these events.

I reckon a silver W163 would cause quite a stir too :D

My wife and myself have talked about doing this in her MR2 . Id reckon it would be a laugh , but we go away on a bike run on the last weekend in augest and our youngest sons birthday is on this weekend .
Still it could be a great opportunity for an irish gtg especially if some UK members where gonna come over to do the cannonball run

I'll keep an eye out for when the registration process begins. Am often in Ireland, mainly Co Wexford, and this sounds like a great opportunity for some sightseeing and a good laugh. Already started thinking about what stickers to put on the car! :D

Sounds like a good one will have to get the DCP project DTM clk or shall it be the F1 CLK pace car !

People have taken stranger on rallies, like BKV (Budapest state-owned transport company) taking a bus on the Dakar rally (looks like it made it, too!)

Even for them, that's madness (not to say they haven't done worse publicity stunts, they've done much more bizarre things!)

And here was I thinking that bringing Mrs TDE1 might raise a few laughs...

I've been on those (new 2008 Volvos), don't go too fast even though the engine loves staying in low gears revving through the roof. No idea how it made it! But it was one of the first few to finish!

More pics on this page VOLVO ALFA LOCALO - Index Fórum scroll down to see them all.

Anyone want to enter a Mercedes Vario in the Dakar rally? :D

I think the equivalent for the Cannonball run would be taking a Trabant along, not a bad idea! Or a W123 200D...
