I have always washed my cars by hand, but practical considerations mean that it would be so much easier to just take the C43 to the nearest car wash and be done with it.

However, it would be with a bleeding heart... Anyone had good/bad experiences with car washes?

Unless you hate the paint on your car, then its def a no no. Are there no hand car wash's near you?

I echo that sentiment DON'T. Comes back with SWIRLS all over..

If you cannot hand wash then find a garage with a hand jet wash, which is quick and easy and SAFER.

I never really trust the brushes at a jet washes. The number of times I've seen them left on the floor!

My local Jaguar Dealer has a automatic carwash that i heard was very good, afterall they put the Jaguars through it. But big mistake!!!!! I used it once and it left a scratch along a third of the side of my car.

NO NO NO NO - MB paint (even the good old solvent based is too soft for brushes)

Can't beat handwashing, and remember to change your sponge every month. Use the new one for the top half and the old one for the lower half and the wheels.

especially when it's a nice day like today:D just spent a lovely hour washing my baby:D

hi, i recommend usin a woolen mitt not a sponge . the deep pile of the mitt will hold the dirt and grit particles away from the paint unlike a sponge!

BUT!!!

"They" have told me that using a sponge to wash your car is the "very worst thing you can do" and that you should be using a soft brush initially while rinsing and then some kind of woollen mitt for washing!

Doesn't matter what you are told, there is always someone ready to tell you the opposite!

I got soaked by a Jet Wash today. Went to do the wheels, put my token in, and the high pressure hose had split ! Hot Soapy Water right in my face, and all over me.

Was like a scene from a comedy sketch with the lance flying about all over the place, uncontrollably !

Grrrr. managed to clean the wheels pretty well with the brush in the end - wouldn't dare touch the bodywork with one though !

yep im sat here laughing my head off at the thought of this hose trying to kill somone stood by a merc

na i alwasy use the brush thing on my car but i alwasy give the brush a quick blast with the high pressure jet jsut to get anytihg that could be on it off (£4.50 for the works and a free magic tree aint bad)

i use meguiars woolen mit. it's aww soft and fwuffy :D i also have two wash buckets to minimise scratches/swirl marks. one with soap, the other with plain water. rinse the mit well between each soap to get rid of the grit. half-way through washig, the soap bucket water should still be reasonable clean whilst the rinse bucket water is dirty (like a pot noodle).

glad to hear more people are starting to use meguiars products , they are excellent! ,and seen as their cheaper than many rivals surely worth a try!

Just bought some Zymol from Halfords. I haven't got the 'Carbon' finishing wax yet because they don't sell it but I do have the rest. Surprised to find it there to be honest.

Heard all sorts of praise for the stuff so thought I'd try it. I'll let you know what happens.

I always hand wash my cars, loads of water from a hose pipe and an old sponge to get the mud off (gently) and then wash as normal with the clean stuff. I used to use a car wash years ago (and on hire cars) but was always shocked at the damage to the paint.

Pay the extra and take it to your local hand wash place, or (like me) wash it less often when you get round to it and make a better job.

ZYMOL IS GOOD POLISH, BUT, A BIT OVERATED AND EXPENSIVE!
I SEE IT FOR SALE ON A WEBSITE AT OVER A THOUSAND POUNDS FOR A SMALL JAR! I THINK THATS A BIT OVER PRICED FOR ANYONE...
I MUST ADMIT THOUGH I DO HAVE SOME IN MY GARAGE AT HOME [NOT THE EXPENSIVE STUFF THOUGH, IM NOT THAT STUPID] TRY MEGUIARS ITS WORTH THE MONEY :)
