I thought I would add this thread as a word of caution for anyone considering replacing the o-rings on their diesel pump pressure valves themselves(as I did). I found this job relatively easy to do, but because I had no knowledge of the pump internals I proceeded to replace and then rebuild my car not realising the massive damage I had just done ending in the replacing of my diesel pump and a small fortune in cash. I dismantled the inlet manifold, difficult, but achievable. I then removed fuel lines, easy. Removed pressure valves and replaced o-rings, easy. This is where it all went wrong. I couldn't get the cooper pressure washers out, so I used a magnet, which not only pulled out the needle jet, but also pulled out the valve seat. This is where the knowledge was required. I dropped it back in, but didn't know that it sits on a cam. I rebuilt everything feeling please with myself, but on start up the valve seat stuck or twisted and broke the cam. My Merc is off the road 5 weeks now and a replacement pump is being fitted with mega problems the whole way.:fail
