Hi guys, I'm now on my 3rd CD changer as the one that came with my 2001 S320 limo was broken. The second one lasted about 2 months until water ingress killed it. I bought the last one at the start of this year and it looks like the damn thing has packed in with a 'no cartridge loaded' error message. This means my phone, voice control and cd won't work.
Is there a bypass or some other fix for this? Changers are still a bit expensive and seemingly pretty fragile. Does any other unit fit the W220?
Any help would be appreciated.

They all look the same the previous owner on my S Class replaced it 540 quid! NUTS! I don't really use it in fairness quite dated technology by today's standards.

I pretty sure any out of the Mercedes range from that era 2000 to 2007 would slot in the boot.

your cd-changer does it feed the discs when cassette is loaded?
if not your charger motor might be busted.

I've had my changer repaired last year after it suddenly died, it was a failing charger loading motor.
now it works like new.

Where did you get it repaired? I'd like to try that before buying a new one. Is it an expensive option?
Thanks for the info.

I sent my changer to Germany.
It was a cheap and solid repair @ €65 eur + round trip shipping costs for my cd changer MC3198.
There are different repair rates depending on what cd-changer it is.

Thanks mate. The message I'm getting is '''No CD changer", which might mean the cable is at fault. I will have a dig about behind the dash and report back. It also errors "No phone" when you try and select that. Again this indicates a connection fault somewhere.
I'll let you know how i get on later.

That is the message I got on my car, new magazine fixed it, I could not see any wear on the old one but I learned if I was gentle with magazine insertion it gave this message.

Ramming the magazine into the unit cured the problem, cannot remember manufacturer of the CD player but I know that Honda and Mb used same supplier.

I found new old stock on eBay at a cheap price and never had a problem since

you should post a picture of your deck.
which model is it?

your stereo deck doesn't recognize the cd changer when you read display No CD changer.
doesn't have to be the wire loom if you haven't bent the fibre optics cable fiddling in the trunk?
fibre optics cable is fragile!
problem could be in the cd changer.

my charger motor broke down when I drove my car on a bumpy and patched road, I think my changer broke because my car's suspension is stiff like hell!
flat even roads are no problems to drive but patched uneven roads are not so comfortable.

Alpine maybe?

I've checked all the wiring and used three different cartridges, but the system had dropped the CD changer out. This also takes out my phone and voice control. More of a nuisance than anything else. I'll take the unit out and see if I can spot anything mechanical.
Back to eBay I think!
