I thought i knew how to change the desktop background, as i have always changed it on every pc i have ever owned ...

However, on my new laptop , when i click 'set as background' it seems to do it as normal , however all i am left with is a blue background  and not the picture i chose ....

Any ideas ?

Try right-clicking on a space on your desktop ...

- Choose Properties and then the 'Desktop' tab in 'Display Properties'
- Use the 'Browse' button to find the image you want to use
- In 'Position' choose stretch
- Click 'Apply'

If that doesn't work it may be the format of the image you want to use is not compatible with use as a desktop image (you may need to convert it to a Windows Bitmap or JPEG format).

Thanks..

I seem to have sorted it now .....

If you click 'Apply' it doesn't work ...... but if you just click 'OK' it does

Anyway ......

I always thought "wot's the point in the Apply biutton?!", but it does have its uses as thus discovered. Always worth whacking it.

Apply lets you make the change without exiting the dialogue box/tab.
