Cheap C32 for someone?

I like the comment about the 144,000 miles on the clock "The engine is just run in with that mileage.. seriously"

I think to convince the average punter he'll have to work harder than that!

Still a nice buy for someone.

Mmm I was tempted, but its that 144k thing.

How many miles can this highly stressed engine go before it and its components start giving up the ghost?

Anyone with a 200k miler and still going strong?

My previous E55 had 175K on the clock when I sold it with no issues whatsoever.

I really don't know why people get so hung up about higher mileage cars. If they have been serviced and maintained properly they represent great value for money and make certain models like AMG cars more accesible to average Joe. :)

Not disagreeing with you but i would imagine a supercharged 6 is under more stress than the 5.5 V8.

Certainly an interesting buy for some one, the V8 is proven for mega miles, would love it to go to a forum member so we could see how they get on...

Edited to add, good value even at buy it now price?

To be honest the 3.2 V6 Supercharged engine is more stressed and complicated than the 5.5 V8.

I wouldnt really risk buying it with 144k as you never know what major component is going to die next.

You never know how it's been driven either!

Yes, they are more stressed but they are built to take it, everything is uprated. We are not talking about a standard V6.

My old 320CLK had 154k on it when i bought it , engine was fine .

Evidence of servicing and generally being cared for is the key.

Again there is no doubt the non-charged 6 or 8 has a proven record of durability.

The C32 is uncharted territory at this mileage, and has its occasional known problems.

Still think it could be a cracking buy though...

I'm sure that you will find many C32's on the american forums wqell past that mileage and still going strong.

If it was a long term forum member selling it and you knew it's history then it might be worth it.

The M3 bit in the text worries me. (Probably been ragged to within an inch of it's life) :dk:

So nobody in the UK was willing to give it a go...poor bloke, hope his business doesn't go under!...but this would have been his 4th car sale in 6 months on Ebay...possible trader?...

Maybe it wasn't just the mileage but also the 20mpg thing....if there wasn't a recession on someone would have bitten.

Maybe it also had something to do with the fact that it was/is too dear:(

Now back on at a starting bid of just £5,000 or Buy It Now at £6500!

Oh lordy I wish he would swap it for my E90 320d!

I wonder how much a new/rebuilt engine would be should the worst happen? Anyone heard of a C32 AMG engine letting go?

At £5-6k you just wouldn't bother. Either sell/break the car for spares if that should happen or look for a good used engine at a sensible price.

I think the engine would probably be okay for quite a while, probably more likely to have other issues with stuff like the Kompressor etc as Jay mentioned.

In his feedback he seems to have sold quite a few cars lol.
Hmm V5 not yet changed to his new address?
So presumably he can verify his old address with bills etc & obviously his name will be on the V5 ... interesting ,who's going to ask ?:)
