Vauxhall's running track days at well known tracks around the UK (not airfields), for a very reasonable £95 - to say you've driven on Brands Hatch must be worth that at least!!

Some of you may know I'm a big Vauxhall fan, and the forthcoming VXR8 (replacing the Monaro) is a tempting propostion for me. Maybe driving one on a track with a 414bhp V8 sound track might make it difficult not to buy one!!

I'm attending Donnington on the afternoon on 6 July.

If you're interested, find out more here...

Wow - that is excellent value!! very tempting:rolleyes:

Er, track day under instruction, someone elses 400+BHP rear drive Monaro, £95 - I'm in!!!

Now say after me "O-V-E-R-S-T-E-E-R" :D

Arrghhhh the dates the dates. Mmmmmm. Some rescheduling required!

very cheap .. Audi's equivalent is £400.

No problem. Bargain, eh?

Shame it's not a Saturday, but if it were it would be on an airfield, so worth a Friday off for me.

In reality it's a long half-day but that's still good value.

If anyone else books, remember to share which session with the rest of us so we can say helloooo. They'll be wondering why there are so many Mercs rocking up!!

Donnington - Friday 6 July - PM - Bobby Dazzler

Just booked two places for Brands Hatch on the 18th July.

A complete pain to order, as you can only order one place at a time, and then when I placed the order for the second person, it refused to allow me to pay with the same credit card, so had to use a different card.

Still looking forward to a great day out.:D

Exactly the same happened to me too. Sure it will be worth it though.

Define UK

I think all over the uk is a bit misleading. Are any of the tracks outside of England.Remember England and Britain are different.

I am just a bit miffed as that sounded fun.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (usually shortened to the United Kingdom, the UK or Britain) is a country and sovereign state that lies to the north-west of the continent of Europe with the Republic of Ireland as its only land border. It occupies all of the island of Great Britain and the north-east part of the island of Ireland, sharing a land border with the Republic of Ireland ;)

No.

I do agree with you - you're absolutely right, England and Britain are different. As far as I'm aware England is on the Island of Great Britain, and therefore part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

I am just a bit miffed as that sounded fun.
Hotchy please accept my most sincere apologies - I had absolutely no intention of misleading or miffing you. If I worked for Vauxhall I might be in a position to apologise for not providing greater coverage, but since I don't I can't.

I shall be more considerate next time. What the heck, I'll apologise to anyone not resident in Derbyshire, Cheshire, Kent and Hampshire for the lack of coverage too. :D :D

Just booked Brands Hatch for the 18th afternoon session.
Anyone else going then, let me know.

Yes Barry thats when Im going. :D

Well folks you won't be disappointed!!

It really was a fab day. There were lots of people there - huge in comparison to the AMG days I've attended. Not a problem though, as the 90 minute session I attended had 37 participants and 33 cars!!

There's a 'bus stop' style sign for each model of car along the pit lane. Jump straight in if there's a car waiting, or queue for the next one to return. Some people queued for specific cars - why I don't know - I just jumped into a car without a queue, which meant I was probably driving for more than eighty of the ninety minutes!!

The Vectra VXR (280PS) seemed to attract queues most, believe it or not. It did feel incredibley quick though. Meriva was predictably least popular, followed by the Zafira. Next the Corsa, then the Astra and VXR8, with the Vectra most popular.

That wasn't my preference though - I would find it difficult to pick between the VXR8 and the Corsa. The Vectra was very close behind though, and was probably the best real world proposition - for me at least. Very refined, and very strong throughout the rev range - which is what you might expect from a turbocharged 2.8 V6!!

The Corsa was fantastic fun - make no mistake it's a quick car - easily capable of keeping up and even passing anything else on the track. I lost count of the number of VXR8s I passed in the Corsa - if you carry the speed through the corners you can make good progress.

The VXR8 didn't feel as quick as I'd hoped - less noise than I imagined - but it was quick. It was the only car that I managed to pass multiple cars between bends with - it was still accelerating as the others were starting to run out of puff which made all the difference.

I had a go with Tom Chilton at the helm of a Vectra. To make it more fun he was very agressive and lairy in style which almost certainly slowed him right down. The ease with which he passed everything else was staggering though - especially impressive when passing other traffic. He was giving it muchos-beanos and remember there were 33 novices on the track throughout!!

A further 90 minute session doing autocross and handbrake parallel parking is great fun too - Paul Swift being the tutor (Russ Swift's lad). Great fun to do and pretty good to watch.

I drive like a daisy and Senior Dazzler makes me look like boy racer - he is incredibley slow. But blimey, he wowed the crowds in the parallel park. I would go so far as to say he was inch perfect in two of his three parks. On the third he pirouted (spelling?) the parked (inflatable) car through exactly 270 degrees!! I have no idea if he knew he could do it, or whether he's just a natural - but I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Shame it was me lined up in the other car - nothing like a bit of pressure is there!!?? Sadly I was useless in comparison!!

Tom Walkinshaw had a demo VXR8 with the supercharger conversion taking it up to 540PS, all for £7k inclusive. Very tempting.

Going on an AMG track day at Brooklands next Sunday though so best not get the cheque book out just yet!! ;)

Despite the many words I used in the posted above - yes I am still excited!! - I forgot to say it's 2 laps per go, but you can have as many as goes in any car within the 90 minute session. Not limited in any way.

Can't wait until a week on Wednesday, sounds like a great afternoons fun.

We have the Vectras at work and I am less than impressed.

My Golf would leave one for dead. They are unreliable and thirsty? Did I say thirsty? Interior is cheap and nasty too.

And we do have rather a lot. The 2.8 and the slightly older 3.2.

All soon to be replaced (i'm led to believe) by BMW 330ds.

Short notice I know, but I have a spare ticket for Brands Hatch this afternoon.

All you need is a driving license and be at Brands for 12 noon.

I dont want anything for the ticket.

Im leaving home now so if you want the ticket, you will have to call on xxxxx ( dont know if Im meant to put a phone number on here)

I dont want to see the ticket go to waste.
