hi

i am looking for the cheapest national hire car i can get. i need to drive from edinburgh to london and leave the car in london.

can anyone recommend a company? i have looked at hertz which seems reasonable for a ford Ka....

wouldn't easyjet or the train (on a super turbo saver ticket) be a better bet than rattling down the country in cheapo hatch?

the drive back will be nice though!

prob is then getting from a train station/airport to the guy's house, plus my bortehr lives in Birmingham so i would stay overnight at his house to break the journey up a bit, then 1 big blast back across the country in the 7 series to get back to scotland :bannana: :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

The difference between a Ford KA and a Ford Focus is £4 so i think i'll opt for £90.23 for a Ford Focus 1.6 (that wont die at 80mph) from Hertz rent-a-car.

cheers

That would be £4 very well spent! Especially if its a new focus.

2 questions :-

Surely you have to return the rented car to whichever company it is rented from (Hertz are often based near airports/stations etc ;) )

How much will it cost overall by driving, including fuel etc, compared to flying?

Hope it all works out well for you.

PS, where abouts in London is the car based?

Cheers :)

hi

yeah with Hertz i can pick the car up in edinburgh near my work and the hertz in london to return it is 3 miles from the guy's house....

probably be about £40 worth of fuel - so around £130 to get there at my own pace. if i flew i would have to fly down same day, get to airport in edinburgh, get from airport in london to the guys house etc - taxi fares or trains could make it a very/more expensive tiresome journey.... plus if i go by car i can stop off overnight at my brother's house if i leave on the monday after work which i couldnt do with the train etc.

Car is in Harrow
