Thinking of getting HFP bluetooth kit and wondered with the poor choice of up to date phones avaliable ,which is best to go for.Dont want music, not big on pictures.Really want a phone and maybe e mail.Thought maybe nokia 6300 or blackberry..Any thoughts

I have had a n95 for a year, and love it. Nokia do a music phone look on the nokia web site

I'm using the Nokia E65, small, light, Symbian, email (push) and opens office docs syncs well with Outlook. Works very well with MB SAP cradle
Battery life reasonable, great screen.

My wife uses a Nokia 6300 with the Mercedes WAP module. This works a treat and as she is in and out of the car a lot it means the phone stays on her person and dosn't get left in the car. It also means that when she is on a short journey she isn't tempted not to 'plug in' then get called.
I do mostly long trips so the old type cradles work fine for me, and it serves as my phone charger.;)

I also use a Nokia 6300 Slide, and I' really very pleased with it. It has a good camera and does have music capability, but I don't use it for that, the battery life is reasonable.
My mum has an E65 and swears by it!

I do find my cradle helpful for this and would miss that facility

are you sure that you actually own a nokia 6300 slide as they were never made im sure your talking about the nokia 6500 slide which has a 3.2 megapixel camera ?

if you need a phone/pda for business i would go for the blackberry as they are very good all it is they are slightly big for normal pockets and the nokia 6300 are great i had one myself they are slim camera quality is good (2 megapixel) and the phone doesnt have any badly known software problems as the nokia n95 did but im actually using a nokia 6301 at the moment its exactly the same model and shape as the original nokia 6300 all that has changed is that the new 6301 has built in wifi and slightly more memory on the phone

I use a Nokia 6300 daily and its great with the bluethooth kit. Unfortunately though I find the battery life appalling and the best I ever get is a day between needing charges. Just ordered a Nokia E51 to replace it.

Forget what I posted above, apparently the E series Nokia's don't work too well unless you have SAP V2

well thats one thing you have brought up to my mind if you leave your phone on charge say overnight and its half charged already the more longer you leave it on charge even though its full it kills the battery and weakens it everytime until you get to a point when you turn on after it charging for a few hours then you either get a call or you playing around with it the phone will switch off saying battery empty so note this and many phone problems are caused cause of the batteries

Iphone with an HFP cradle. Its the cheapest bluetooth cradle. Supports full address book download. Also works great with Raspberry's too.

Forget the SAP unless you really want to access texts on your comand or use the car's phone aerial. But then you also should have a SAP compatible phone which limits you pretty much to the newer Nokias. Also forget SAP unless you have a number keypad on your head unit (Audio 20 and Comand). Otherwise your phone will go to sleep and all you can dial are numbers from the phone book.

I thought these new batteries had done away with the memory effect? If not how do I restore the batteries full life?

ooops, my mistake, yep you're right.

Alfie,
Is there a list of current smart phones that the new command can pick up the address book, although my SE P990i links and call ok via bluetooth. The address book will not import at all

hey the best thing to do is take the wall charger at another wall socket and switch the phone off and leave it charging for a few hours but check it when its full it should sort the battery meter out if not and carrys on charging for a bit longer than you think then that shows the battery is knackered and will need replacing (i have some if you need any more help just pm me)
