Chrysler 300c

Sorry, have to disagree here. The 10,000 mile 300C I had briefly was a far more creaky, rattly beast than my then 55,000 mile S211, which was totally rattle free.

As regards the CLS, it's too early for me to tell, but as far as interior quality is concerned, it feels way, way ahead of the Chrysler and from the test drive I had of the latest 300C at Motor Expo this year, although looking much better than before, didn't feel like it was built any better.

I don't have a downer on Chrysler - I think (especially in the US) they're good value for money - but you pay your money and take your choice....

My CLS was obviously put together jst before 5 on a Friday afternoon. Its been back to the dealers 4 times over the past 2 years and its still got creaks and buzzing noises fom various parts of the interior. That and the infamous acceleration delay have blighted an otherwise great car.
Its gonna be Mercedes again but nice smooth (hopefully) petrol next time.
Cant say Dodge interior is a bad place to be though. This is a limited edition but I'm sure, as long as your not talking poverty (rental) level 300C are about the same

Nice looking car! I was taken by the looks, I'll be honest and the Charger is a great car, but I was just left feeling unimpressed with the interior and to me (and SWMBO) it just didn't feel "special".

But, I do like American cars. I just looked at a new Camaro at a dealer in Vladimir - wow, what a car!!

By the way, I agree about moving on to a petrol next time! My next MB (maybe another CLS) will definately not be another diesel. Just too much hassle and too much stuff to go wrong. Nice smooth, powerful, refined petrol V6 or V8 next time....... while I can still just about afford the fuel!!!

Bit unfair to say we haven't driven them. I had one for the day - it would have been 3 but after day 1 I knew that the car wasn't for me and asked them to take it back.

I live in the sticks, so going round corners is a necessity for me, and this just didn't do it. The steering was dead, the roll would have impressed the RNLI, and the understeer was something to behold. Great on a dual carriageway, but the first roundabout was one of the scariest things I've ever come across what with the wooly handling and lack of braking.

It's also telling that, despite being quite cheap on the plan, none of our 6,000+ fleet drivers have opted to choose one ever.

Would I move from a W204 to one - no. However for some they might fit the bill, but not for me and the environs that I live in.

They are all over the place - a local double glazing place has a fleet of a dozen grey ones as rep mobiles .

Do you like bland , grey plastic interiors ?

Based , I believe , on the W210 chassis - perhaps not the greatest success story in Mercedes history .

Depends where you look - I don't see many around where I live (probably doe to the handling) but in and around London I see loads.

A similar thread had been started on the other forum.

The thread got mixed reviews about this car, as a member with a W211 E-class wanted to replace it with a 300c.

The plus points that I can see so far, is that it does look menacing, seems to be good value for money, and is not common.

What do you guys think, buy or stay away as I am now looking to get one to replace the C180...

Just read thru some of the replies & I think that the 300C is being unfairly treated lol!
Had a W210 300TD & replaced it with 300C tourer. Had it 2 years covered just over 50k & apart from a rattle in front suspension it never missed a beat. I've laso never had a car where so many people have commented on it, all favourable, but that was on it's looks!
The things I disliked - turning circle wasn't very good, suspension not as good as Merc, but wasn't that bad on corners, A pillar did obscure view, & luggage area wasn't as big as you'd think.
Things I liked - never ever missed a beat, the looks, diesel was a cracker & gbox was good to my mind, & price.
The Merc is a nicer car but don't think it's extra cost makes it that much nicer.
Would have had another one but couldn't see the point in spending thousands of pounds & having the same thing on the drive but with a different registration plate. But, I admit, I'm not normal!! I prefer automatics & like the R320Cdi I replaced it with! Is there any hope for me?

Camero is a great looking car, I've had a thing for American V8's since I was a kid.
I do think that they are a bit out of place in the UK though. A big red, loud (rear mufflers deleted ) car with 20" chrome wheels looks great in Florida. In the wilds of Cheshire it would look OTT and just riduculous.

Agreed! When I was about 25 I went mad and bought a 1982 "Knight Rider" style Trans Am 5.0 V8! I loved that car and the noise it made! But, in the end it was too leary for Wembley and I got rid of it - but I loved every crazy moment. One day I'll buy a C5 'Vette...
