HI,

I was wondering as a foreigner, how popular the Classic Mercedeses are for dialy driving in the UK?

I understood that some time ago, they got much more expensive to drive because the tax free oldtimer concept was changed (to before 73 I believe).

Are there still many people driving the classic Mercedeses, for daily driving? That is, the cars before 1992 or something.

A 1980's or early 1990's Mercedes represents cheap motoring here in the UK. W123's, W124's, W126's and W201's can all be bought at bargain prices and can still be seen in daily use. Earlier models are considered true "classics", cost considerably more and are far less common in daily use.

If you look at the Classic Car section on Ebay UK you'll see that Mercedes is the fourth most numerous marque after VW, Ford and MG so older Mercedes do have a real following here.
