Yes i will pass both of them off with full marks ...it gets harder as the cars get older ..All the bright work goes dull and screw heads go rusty .

I have got a really shiny engine.... well lots of parts bags, new turbo, more parts etc sat waiting for me to strip and install....

I use Williams Waterless Wash and Wax on my shell ..Clean it a few times and it will look nice and shiny ..that goes for all plastic parts .

Top marks on the engine bay , looks brill.

Hammerite black satin spray after a degrease and quick rub with wet and dry. Works a treat, looks brand new and saves the endless anointing with potions!

Also, you can apparently apply a diamond coating, the same stuff as used on alloys and paintwork, and it gives it a blacker, wetlook, er, look.

I am interested in getting my engine bays for both cars as clean as I can, but does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning products and cloths etc to achieve this?

Both engine bays are pretty disgusting at the mo!

Is it the plastic part? If so I can endorse this stuff C4 Permanent Trim Restorer (15ml & 30ml)

I used it on our Mini and the results were amazing, it's more than a year later and they still look the same.

Hi Steve, there was a thread a little while ago discussing the merits of TFR. I had never heard of it but tried some and it worked really well. Good for the wheel arch liners too. Gets things clean enough for a bit of detailing of plastic parts etc. I use MER but everyone has their favourite.

Its fine to use on am engine bay, just be careful on any chrome work.
