Not sure if this is the best place for it so please feel free to move.

Any of you owners with the Thermotronic had any issues with the system getting confused, one or two people have seen the same thing as me and I'm just curious.

I've noticed the problem in my SLK but I've not had enough time with any of the service cars we have with the system fitted to test it out and i don't like to use customer cars for it, basically you can start the car up from cold fine then after 10-15 minutes one side of the car can steam up and its normally the passenger side but can just as easily be the drivers when it wants to.

The system normally sorts itself out after a few minutes or you can cycle Auto and that normally has the same effect.

I've leak checked the car and can't find anything, pretty much all of the roof seals have been replaced and alignments checked, run the diagnostics on the system and as far as its concerned everythings dandy.

All i have noticed and a quite a few people with 171's have complained about the same thing is a shot of cold air when turning left and again we have checked literally everything we can think of on the cars and cannot find the source even using a pressure washer and compressed air to get some pressure on the seals, it does tend to go away after 30-40 minutes or if you cycle the door a few times so that suggests a seal but they all check out fine and all the door alignments are good, it actually seems to be above the door anyways more neck level but all the roof and window seals are in good working order and correctly aligned.

Personally i think the 2 are unrelated since the misting can happen at any time, any ideas you guys may have will be much appreciated as Merc tech are as baffled by it as us.

People dont accept my view on this.

On all of this type of car there are cold metal surfaces not sealed off as on a normal type of car.

On 129 with the hard top on and the car dry and garaged when you start up afrter a few mins you will see very slight damp marks on the rear glass.. The 129 and gaps around the hard top are better insulated than the 171 and 230.

As a tin shed will sweat if you put heat in it when its cold outside, so will the areas in a car like the boot

Not picking faults at all mate, i completely agree with and understand what your saying its year 7 level knowledge but this is different.

I've driven enough 171's in a loads of conditions and its very rare to get even a slight misting on any surfaces or when you do its isolated to the rear windscreen, thing is most dont have the digi climate control so i can't test that.

This seems so closely tied to the CC and can appear on any window but normally picks the passenger door before moving across the windscreen and toward the driver side.

Again not arguing it with you mate just fairly confident this is a different issue (if you can call it that).

Could the mosture be held where the roof meets the top of A pillar, my car was out all week end , though no water came in my head got wet when I banged it on the seam / join on the inside.
