Hi just about to replace my timing chain and both the cam sprockets,as the teeth have virtually gone of the inlet cam does anyone know if the sprockets are keyed as I can't seem to find this information. It's on a 2005 clk 1.8k m271 thanks

Might be an idea to check the crank sprocket as well just in case its suffered the same fate.

Thanks, I've checked that it's fine,it's only the inlet that's really bad but I'm going to change both. I'm also changing the guides and the tensioner then that should be job done, was just wondering if the cams where keyed or if I need a timing pin kit ??

I guess that if you remove the sprocket bolt you will be able to see if there is a keyway cut into the shaft?

The new parts are coming Friday so I'll check the new ones first,if there not keyed I'll need a timing pin kit anyway
