So as the title States.. I have a 98 230 Komp CLK And i want to know a few things i somebodu wouldnt mind helping me out, as im not that familiar with my car. :)

I Have a red cover/Top/Lid what ever you want to call it on the top of my engine.. what does this mean? as i have been told other cars dont have the red cover on the engine..

Is my car supercharged? As thats also what my friends have said about the red top.?

And... Can i fit A Zenon bulb in a normal halogen light unit? or not. ? :/

Thanks in ADV

J

Yes. The red cover is fitted to the kompressor engine. It is supercharged.

And yes you can fit a xenon bulb in the headlights and foglights.

If you mean a HID bulb - not legally (although this has been the subject of much heated debate in the past) - as a min you should have auto levelling lights and headlamp washers (and to be technically correct a new headlamp body to focus the light correctly as the light source is a slightly different shape).

I Dont really know..

To be honest i just want the same colour light that is in your Sig! On my clk!

So what bulbs are you using?

And thanks for clearing the whole supercharger thing up for me Iain :)

It might be useful to do a search on here.I know there have been many discussions on this topic. In my 250TD I have fitted Nightbreakers which are a very bright white and improve vision noticeably. Not needed in the C230k as I have factory Xenons. The 'lamps' in these are actually called burners and were about £100 a pop each from MB. I don't think it is worth converting to this because of the work involved and of course the additional costs would realistcally make it prohibitive. Although I know one member 'Shude' did undertake this conversion some years ago.
