Hi, am looking for a 2008+ model ideally sport trim. Have trawled this site and struggle to find any bad bits :-)

Before I go see this - any specific points I should look out for? I did note that fluid changes should be checked so will pick up on that. Also - will check the generic stuff like tyres, body panel fit.....

It has FMBSH, 2 owners, apparently perfect.... price is 15k (dealer) good spec with satnav.

Any tips appreciated - looking forward to hopefully owning my first merc! Though in no great rush if this one doesn't feel right will keep looking.

Cheers

I bought a 2008 320 CLK sport in March this year and really enjoy it. No real problems so far but the speaker Grille in the drivers door can get damaged by the seatbelt not retracting fast enough before the door is shut . Something a mechanic mentioned to me was to check for oil leaks around the rear diff drive shaft seals, awkward to see but worth a check as if they are leaking they can be expensive to repair apparently. Good luck with the search and let us know how you get on.

OK thanks for that. Had a look at one - all good except more stone chips than I would have expected + the dash has this light weight/fragile tin type material on a couple of area which have small dents. Major issue was no test drive! You'd think the garage would have mentioned that when you're driving an hour to go and see it!

Oh, the other issue - no movement at all on the price.

Not so many of these 320 sports in black so not a lot of choice - I'm quite fussy wanting a sport, black with <50k miles in a 2008 or 2009.

Will have a look to see where the rear diff drive shaft seals are - I guess at the back of the car in the middle somewhere ;-)

Cant believe they wouldnt let you drive it, as you say they should have said it wouldnt be possible.

The seals are right in the middle of the rear axle, so nice and easy to get at !! The seals are around the driveshaft exits from the diff.

If you drove that far and they would not let you test drive it i would walk away on the grounds of not very helpful, You will get the one you want just bide your time you have picked up on a few points that you are not impressed with! So this may not be the one.

Tony.

Cheers - have found another at a MB dealer - Southend though which is not that close to me so may be a struggle to see it but at least there is some price movement. This one 6m older but bit cheaper and I *hope* better warranty being form a MB dealer + you get the breakdown cover.

Well the car at Southend was fine so am now a 1st time MB owner :-)

So far (early days) happy with Southend MB, good service and sensible on negotiation.

congratulations on your purchase, and enjoy. If its a black onelike me you will probably spend plenty of time with a sponge and chamois in your hand :))

Cheers - yes I guess you're right, maybe will try and clear some space in the garage!

Thread bump

Is it a diff out job To replace diff driveshaft seals ?
