Having spoken to a few people around getting the transmission oil and filter serviced there seems to be some disparity in price. As my car is coming upto 100k and the last change was around 60k I thought it may be time to get it done. I have noticed a very slight whine when cold which suggests I may be right, although it may just need a top up to sort the noise.
Has anyone had this done recently and if so do you mind sharing how much it was?? Is it something I can do myself as a mid range spannerman?
I also have an oil change due soon and was thinking to stay with Mobil 1 229.5. Anyone use a different oil that they believe is better??

Just noticed a handy guide - thanks BlackC55. You have sealed the argument of whether I should do it or not by mentioning snapping bolts - that makes it a big no no for me!!

Yes get an expert to do it. Incidentally MB usually advised a change at 40,000 and then leave it. Most on here do not agree and would do it every 40k or so.

Any ideas of costs other members have incurred for the job please?

I beleive that BlackC55 charges around £175 for the job and he is prolly less than an hour from you. (bargain!)

Unfortunately I cannot recommend him as he is likely to suffer permanent retina damage from the intense redness of your car, and therefore be unable to post his helpful tips and howto's in future.

What would I do with a couple of hours in Horndean? Can't see the better half jumping at that offer on a Saturday!! :) Unless Olly will help out with the requisite Indy 190e courtesy car ;)

Oh and yes the car easily burns retinas. Sunglasses are a must...

Hi Ken, might be an idea to start your own thread, you'll probably get a better response.

It's also a good idea to say what model of car you drive.

I think the temp sensor on my car is located below the front bumper, but I drive a W208 CLK Convertible, so unless you've got the same car, this might not help.
