Hi Guys
Clk convertable with blue hood getting quite marked what is the best thing for cleaning them.
It is mostly stuff dropping from a tree in the driveway (bit sticky)

Cheers

yep the renovo stuff is very good. get the cleaner + the ultraproofer. If the roof needs the colour putting back into it then you will need the blue colour wash as well - should cost you about £50 and a couple of hours work.
If you use the colouring then follow the instructions and dont do it in direct sunlight - better in the shade on a cooler day - if it dries too quickly you will get lines in it where the sections that you "paint" join together.

The Autoglym kit always works for me....cleaner is good and waterproofer is fab.....I apply waterproofer once the hood is dry and I use the whole bottle to get a really good waterproof finish..

Have never used Renovo but stuff seems to get good reviews...

Well I have spent most of this morning, and used the best part of a bottle of Autoglym cleaner, guess what still loads of mildew marks. Looked at Renovo site it says the cleaner is for canvas hoods, mercs are mohair I think? So what now any body think that it would be ok to use a carpet cleaning machine? or is there anything alse I could try, i have done the elbow grease thing and I am frankly disapointed.

Double check to see if you can use the Renovo range. I have just done a convertible this weekend - it too had a few mildew marks on it. I gave it all a good scrub with the renovo cleaner (twice)- that removed most but not quite all of the mildew marks. I then used the Renovo colour - that has covered up the remaining mildew marks competely and then I finished off with the ultraproofer. The end result is stunning - it looks like a new roof. I have used it before but am still astonished how good the results are - the roof was letting the car down - not anymore.
Highly recommended.

I have used the Renovo cleaner on my previous Saab and on my SL with no problems and it did a good job on both.
I also used the recolouring dye and proofer on the Saab. The roof looked new when finished, but I wasn't impressed by the proofer. The Autoglym proofer is much better.

I have had real hassles reproofing our CLK roof. It is fairly new so not that grubby but I just want it beading the water.

I found cleaning products do improve the appearance but it is the final application of the waterproofing product that darkens the colours and masks the odd mark and stain.

Autoglym cleaner and proofer - Cleaner is very soapy and proofer is rubbish.
3M Scotchgard Outdoor protector (spray can so easy to apply) - also rubbish.
Mercedes Penetrator Spray (dodgy name) - also rubbish.

I have also used Renovo before on a different car but found it very messy to apply as it is a liquid that needs to be brushed on, good results though.

So if you find anything good then let me know!

Simon
