Hi All
I am a new member and a new Benz owner

I need a new starter motor for my 2000 CLK 200

I see in eurocarparts.com they want £320 for a reconditioned one.... Cant I get a new one anywhere else and does this price makes sense for a used motor ?

Appreciate your input guys

Try your local breakers or dedicated merc breaker.should be around £40-50.

kind regards and welcome to the forum'

Hi buddy, and welcome to the forum!

I've had a look on the site, and it looks like we have the following - this is based on a Merc CLK 2.0 petrol MY 2000

Description: RTX - Brand New Starter Motor
Web Price: £118.80
Forum Price: £89.10
RTX Mercedes-Benz | Euro Car Parts UK

We also have Recon Lucas or Bosch ones at £114 / £189.60 [respectivly] before forum discount.

Is the Bosch worth twice the price or am I lend by a brand name ?

Thanks - I see that the Bosch one is not new and is only £189 if I send you my old one which needs to be in a good working order (and is not), otherwise its £321. What would you suggest or did I misunderstood it?

Hi

The prices I posted above are based on the return of your old faulty unit. It doesn't have to be working, just have no physical damage to the casings.

What brand to choose? I would go for the RTX as its brand new, cheaper and has the same guarantee!

Thanks - How long is the guarantee for the Bosch?
once I choose a brand and order it, how do I return my old one? By post?

All of them have the same 1 year guarantee.

Once you have your old one either post it back to Wembley, or to save the carriage charge you can bring it to your local Branch who will return it for you :)

Hope that helps

Thanks guys.
I was about to order the Bosch one but my mechanic insists on making the order himself, otherwise he "wont do the job"......

I can get a used one for £40 if u want one.

Appreciate it BRABUSK8
But at the moment I dont have much choice as the car wont move and this mechanic is the only one I know who is mobile.....
Looks likes whatever he say goes (for the time being)

Cool good luck. Where u based?

I am based in Hertfordshire and I actually bought the car in Birmingham. Maybe you know the car???
