Need some advice my 2001 CLK W208 320 has started setting off the alarm. Tends to happen about an hour after locking the car. It fortunately stops when I open and relock the car, but am worried it may get worse. Is it the battery needing replacing as voltage dropping? or need putting on star and resetting? I even read about spiders inside the car? Can I remove a fuse if it becomes a total nuisance or activate the towing button? Welcome any help/advice? Thanks

Wow.. this brings back memories!
I had a 2001 CLK and I had this exact thing happen to me over a few nights.
Car alarm would randomly go off late at night.
I'd go out and open and re-lock the car.
This would happen over about 3 or 4 nights.
Couldn't work it out.
Few days later, I found a dead spider on the rear carpet below one of the motion sensors and a web over the motion sensor.
Not sure if incy-wincy was the cause, but the alarm did not go off again.
IIRC yes, can't picture it right now but I think the button can be rocked up or down to disable tow or internal sensors, or both! It will light up on the appropriate setting.
