Hi guys, just took the clk out for a spin for about 15 minutes.

It's a 2001 CLK55 btw.

Got back and noticed its leaking fluid, it's just dripping off the centre of the bottom of the front bumper.

I got some of it on a tissue and its a clear fluid and the closest smell I can think of is nail polish remover or something odd of that sort. Oh and it's cold. Doesn't taste sweet or anything, more like a chemical of some sort.

Either way the fact that the ac hasn't run since last week (cars been sitting since) leads me to believe its not from the ac, almost definate its not coolant either as its cold and clear as mentioned.

What could it be? My best guess is washer fluid from the headlight washers as the engine bay/hoses are all bone dry.

Any help would be appreciated, I've got a few days off from tomorrow and was planning on using the car for once lol!

Cheers

If it has headlamp washer jets I would say one of those are leaking mate :thumb:

Hey Justin, i certainly hope so. Its eid tomorrow and quite frankly i cant be stuck without the car as my wife will go  lol.

Ill check the level in the morning and confirm. :D

If it is cold & smells a bit like acetone, then could be the non evaporated fraction of leaking aircon fluid?

Is it a leak, or is it from the outside of the A/C, as often seen under parked vehicles on a hot day? (not sure what it actually is, but it's fairly normal, I believe)

That is usually water from any ice melting on the outside of the evaporator and further back than the bumper.

Other fluids in that area are power steering oil and transmission oil and yes a/con oil.

Air con condensation - nothing to worry about i would say
