So, here it is, when the CLS first appeared my impression was a combination of YUK and what on earth is is trying to be? However, now used ones are getting sub 25K I'm thinking hmmmm nice, fancy one of those myself, what do you think?

    Yep...go for it.

I think they look better in darker colours. Brian's black CLS is beautiful!

I had this same debate with myself when I had an E class. Test drove a couple of CLS 320 CDI's and whilst the car looked great from the outside, the drive was only what I had come to know from the E class. The interior was not really as good as the E IMHO.
If the way the car looks to others is important then the £10k premium you pay will not be an issue. I figured I spent more time driving my car than looking at it so fitted CLS wheels to the E!

Got one - great car. I got mine six months ago as my job was taking me all over the place. Wonderfully comfortable place to spend time, and performance is very good (I came out of a CLK55!). I've now moved into a new job where I am only doing 60 miles a week so it is likely to be going as I can't justify the monthly outlay for that.

Let me know if you have any other specific questions.

Have to say I agree with you entirely. My first impression was less than favourable, yet now when I see one I think they look great. Prices now are certainly tempting............. perhaps too tempting.

IMO the CLS is very sensitive to colour / wheels / etc.

Some do look like they were left in the oven and melted slightly ...

I agree about the wheels, less than 17"'s look tiny.

Very pretty models, choose colour carefully (not white or blue)

I always thought a CLS AMG would replace my C AMG. In fact it almost did a couple of weeks ago. They're amazing value at the moment.

Agree totally, I think Black first, Silver second.. (seems to backed up by second hand prices) not at all sure about anything else..although I agree that the white one above does look pretty good.

So far the CLS seems to be pretty popular

Totally agree, wouldn't consider anything else, I drive far too far each year to consider a big petrol...as much as I would like one;-)

I also thought the same way when I first saw them, but it certainly grows on you and I now think they look great.

The nice thing about that model is you dont see soo many of them on the streets either and that makes them a bit exclusive :)
