Hi All,

Does anyone know how to remove the wooden trim panels from the ash tray cover and the cd changer/utility button panel?

And also from the rear centre console (the sliding doors)

I'm thinking of getting mine painted in Piano black...

Many thanks

The ashtray and cd changer panel wood are easily separated and to be honest it's obvious how to do it once you have the bits out and in your hands, plenty of descriptions of how to get the parts out around here and every forum.

The sliding covers have to be got at from the bottom of the centre console which entails removing the rear seat cushions to get at the mountings.

Was intending to vinyl wrap mine in gloss black just in case I wanted to go back but the warm glow in the sunshine has grown on me so they're safe for now. Hmm...wonder what white would look like!

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the information. I will take a look at taking out the wood inserts, last time I had the cd changer out, it didn't look that easy, I think I need to goto specsavers!

I was thinking of getting the panels skinned in CF fabric as well. much much nicer than Vinyl and longer lasting.

Another idea I had was to "tint" the wood, i.e. stick something like limo tint on top to make it glossy and dark, don't know how long it will last...

I've been looking for a dash panel on ebay for some time so I can get that done and still have my originals in case I wish to go back, but they rarely come up!

You can buy a complete carbon interior trim set for £1k.

Hmm that's a lot more than I plan to spend on interior trim... I've seen one on ebay, with all the import duty etc, it'll be quite a lot!

From memory there are a couple of clips you need to push in on one edge and then it swings off. Have PMed you.

Hey Andy,

Thanks for that! Would be good to see from an expert! I need to ask you a couple more questions too!

Not a problem. What time you getting up there on saturday.
