CLS problems?

I've noticed that the "common" problems associated with 211s (broken springs, electrical gremlins etc) don't seem to be afflicting the CLS. Am I right or are there equally common problems with CLS as well?

I'm hoping to get as aquainted with the car and it's quirks as I can before laying out the dosh to buy one in the new year. :)

Thanks CLS owners, in advance! :)

I dont know of that many gremlins with the later W211's?

The only thing that I would classify as a common issue is the inlet port motor which is a problem for both models.

My CLS was registered in Mar 2006. It has done about 16500 miles.

I have had it since Mar 2010 and have done about 6k miles.

Only thing that has gone wrong is I needed a new parktronic sensor at the front.

I wonder if:

1) There are many more 211 than cls about
2) Is there anything different about the type of use/mileage that's typified by the kind of person who may favour one over the other and whether this may have an effect.
3)Anything I have just written makes any sense? :dk:

I wondered that too. Or, maybe CLS owners don't like talking about their problems! :D Seriously, it does seem when you look around the various forums, not many CLS appear to have troubles! Good eh! :)

Looking good for the CLS!! :)

I had a 2007 CLS 320 CDI for 3 years, only thing that went wrong was squeaking brakes and a rattley ashtray cover.

actually my brakes squeak too .. only sometimes and only when slowing from low speed to stop.

discs and pads checked and all OK.

did drive me nuts but forgot about it until I read this

Yep, only at low speed stopping. They added 'some dampers' under warranty although I had to pay for new pads at cost.

Didn't fix the squeaking though.....

Thinking about it, my brakes sqeak a little at low speed braking - never paid it any attention 'till now... :(

what is an anti squeal shim? do I need to get one or get it replaced?
Its a thin piece of metal that sits between the caliper piston and the back of the brake pad. These days it tends to be an integral part of the pad but a smear of copper grease on it can often help. The squeal often happens when the pressure on the brakes is gentle and the pad can oscillate against the piston causing the noise.
