CLS shooting brake video. I want one

Excellent video! I'm now a total convert! CLS SB.. hmmmm! :D

Excellent video! I'm now a total convert! CLS SB.. hmmmm! :D

The 219 CLS is lovely, the 218 one looks a bit rubbish but the SB one recovers it to a near 219 level of visual excellence.

I really want an SB. I expect Sean will go the AMG route, I'll go the 250cdi route but its a nice car for everyone ;)

I expect Mercland to stock nice ones for me to buy.

:D And I might go 350cdi.... maybe... :D

Yummy! :)

Barry, Stop. Its making me go weak at the knees. I'd have it in white too. How come the CLS isn't a car I want in silver but the rest of the merc range I do?

strange .. the CLS SB in the metal does not look as good as in the pics ...

the wheels make a big difference though. AMG wheels work as do the chunky ones in the pic Barry posted

Putting aside the practicallity versus looks, the biggest difference is in the height of the centre of gravity.
My experience of E class and CLS suggests that you will find something much closer to a sports car in the CLS and a lot less like a bus....
You can already see the roll transition as the CLS stops sliding and grips, with the 'tall' E class estate it is much more pronounced and takes a couple of oscilations to settle. But that depends if you are going to drive the car to sort of limits that Chris does:dk:

Thank you for this, sounds very reasonable and I am sure you're right. I wonder how marked the effect of the higher centre of gravity is - or rather how much higher the centre of gravity actually is. Mind you the teak floor in the boot is probably helping to lower it in the CLS :bannana:. I also wonder how much of a disadvantage the E estate has compared to the BMW 5 series and A6 which both have a somewhat lower stance.

It is not easy to find much on E63 estate handling although the following video indicates it can comport itself pretty well in the right hands

I haven't seen on in the metal...yet. I work close to MB Glasgow, I'll wander in on a lunch break
There's a nice white one at Milton Keynes, I saw it yesterday - very tasty indeed!

Dilemma time now! I had the pleasure of being up close and personal with a black CLS55 AMG yesterday as well - - did I like it? Yes indeed!!!

So, this might have to be added to the growing list of cars I want! Then, maybe in two years time a new shape CLS (or even SB!) might be of interest.. :D

CLS63 SB is great value, relatively speaking ..

It's £1150 more than the CLS 63, but SB gets the Performance Package Plus engine with 557hp and 800NM torque (£6495 option), but without the alcantara s/wheel, red calipers, and pointless carbon fibre bits.

SB also gets electric tailgate and folding rear seats, which together cost £865 on the CLS.

Offers wise, however, CLS63 has £11k discount, and nothing on CLS63 SB .. give it time :)

I need to start saving up

...And maybe get a better paid job! ;)
