I see a company called CVM is offering just over £15000 off a new CLS 500. This cannot help second hand values.

the 5.5 litre under the hood isnt helping used values either.

Not with fuel well over a quid a litre now:(

CLS petrol V8s drop like stones .. AMGs slightly less so

just called them ..

these are UK cars, not registered.

there are a few around, with different specs.

must be registered by year end.

it is a huge discount.

Profit is a dirty word in the UK, the public at large equate the word profit to theft.....they believe you should be in business to provide them with products free of charge.

British mentality I'm afraid.

Have to agree with you there. "the cost of everything and the value of nothing" springs to mind.

what this thread really shows is that MB is thrashing their brand, by selling cars at such huge discounts.

perhaps if they weren't so overpriced in the first place, it wouldn't be so bad.

I agree with the first part but the second is more complicated.

Mercedes-Benz are giving a huge finger to those that buy new vehicles and that is so wrong.

isnt bmw doing the same???

Just to compare, in Portugal the CLS500 is €122,000 before options, that is £87,000 and the SL350 is €116,000 again before options which comes to nearly £84,000. PVP (New Car TAX) to add to this is about 230 euros.

Is there a punitive Import duty on luxury vehicles, or all vehicles?

Actually we do OK here, take a look a new prices in some of the Scandinavian countries and Japan. I actually don't think we are ripped off here, there's just an in built resentment at people making money. I have no idea where this came from.
