"In cooperation with the Swiss watchmaker IWC Schaffhausen, Mercedes-AMG has developed an exclusive model known as the CLS 55 AMG "IWC Ingenieur". Only 55 units of the unique four-door coupe will be produced. The car has a powerful AMG 5.5-litre supercharged V8 engine and boasts exclusive equipment details. The design of the newly designed AMG instrument cluster is based on the new "Ingenieur" watch family from IWC, which is making its world debut at the Geneva watch show in April 2005. The 55 units of the CLS 55 AMG "IWC Ingenieur" will each be customised at AMG in Affalterbach, Germany, and the first deliveries will be made in autumn 2005." source: www.car.kak.net

The CLS is truly stunning, don't care what anyone else thinks. Limited to 55 cars, that's got to make it pretty expensive over the standard CLS55 AMG?

You should get one Matt ;)

Will it be available in Right Hand Drive?

Should be in RHD, the Limited Edition CL55 F1 was also only 55 units and 5 or so were right hand drive.

I've seen this car in the flesh at AMG last Thursday.

Its awesome. The titanium alloys on it were incredible.

I'll get my pics hosted this week and send the link.

Although I love the CLS shape, the two RHD CLK-DTM cars for sale were mouthwateringly good.......

Hope you had a good time at AMG! I know there was another MBClub member there on the same day as you, firstname 'Richard'.

Ah....ours was part of a driving holiday. We got there for 11am.

Very impressive facility, and amazing cars. Shame they would only let us photo cars in the "showroom" as the engine building works was amazing. I mean - we went nowhere near R&D, and I perfectly understand not wanting us to photograph customer cars in for a bit of "attention".

But it was a good tour, all in all. They made is feel very welcome, and much drooling over the cars ensued......

Hello mate,

You seem to be one of the very few that know about the Special Edition IWC CLS55 AMG.

I am the owner of this car and it's the only one in the UK and as you have rightly quoted, there are only 55 in the world. I am actually looking to sell the beauty however because of the lack of awareness about it, people do not understand how unique it is.

The only thing I don't like about the CLS is that the doors are really short and it's very claustrophobic inside. The instrument cluster is horrible IMO. The rev counter far too small and why have an sightly clock there? How often do you need to know the time?!?

Hello

The clock looks a bit naff...

Would prefer the IWC clock from a S class in the centre dash.

Academic though as my name will not be down for one...

:)

I'd have thought that would be good enough reason to keep it. If no one knows about it , won't you find it difficult to sell it?

I'm probably the only one but I really don't like anything about the CLS. A friend has one, I think it's ugly.

Or two, :)
I don't suppose there are many folks that like every model being produced by Mercedes-Benz and respect to those that have bought this model.

Regards
John

actually there are at least 2 IWCs in the UK .. I have test driven both.

IMHO, the interior colour is dreadful .. it is slightly glittery and it just looks and feels wrong. Tacky really.

Oh well - no hope then!
