I saw a very early CLS 55 in the goldy/beige colour (under a few layers of dirt and with a few battle scars) crushing down the motorway the other day and it definitely had the air of being a workhorse.

Can't believe the CLS has been out nearly 10 years now!

In terms of petrol or you mean they have an oil consumption problem?

They are a lovely design ... Probably the only Merc out since the 90s apart from the SLS i actually like.

55K engines don't have an oil consumption problem. If they do, there is something wrong. 63n/a engines have a known use of oil.
Fuel....oh yes.

Mine hasnt used a drop in the 1.5k I have driven since I bought it...

I think he means Petrol.

The 55 engine I like with the supercharger. Love the whine!

Never had to top mine up in the 5 years I've had mine.

(and don't start with the "you don't drive it" bullsh#t, guys... I'll have you know that I've done a whole 15,500 miles in the last 5 years! )

There is loads on the reliability of the engines all over the web and this forum? Its pretty well documented ... Not sure all the problems are oil consumption though ..

Try to filter out the crap when reading up in the internet.

Although issues can arise with engines made by any manufacturer, AMG engines are largely regarded as bulletproof.

Hardly a "nightmare".
