W210, just tried my heated seats and the passenger side is hot top and bottom but mine (drivers) doesn't appear to get hot on the seat/bottom.
Is there an easy fix???

The heating element is integrated into the seat cover on some models and fails very prematurely. I thought the W210 had separate heated pads and covers though.

There's a post about it somewhere - even with inegrated elements you can add a separate pad - much cheaper than a new seat cover. I'll sniff it out for you.

Just checked under the seat and plug is on (4 wires)
I have continuity on two wires but not the others. Looks like I will have to replace the seat base. You mention it comes as a complete seat base, does that mean the grey leather cushion part?.

If the heating element is a separate "pad" then just replace the pad, and refit the original leather cover.

If the heating element is integrated into the leather cover, then you have two choices:

1. Replace with a new leather cover (with integrated heating element).

2. Keep the existing cover, but insert a separate "pad" beneath it.

I had the cover replaced under warranty so I'm not sure of how easy/difficult it is. There are some part numbers in the thread.

Does anyone have access to EPC who can punch in Gary's VIN and check if he has integrated element or not?

Update
I called my local dealer who told me the had a pad in stock @ £90.
I removed seat and took to trimmer, soon became evident that the pad I'd bought was a sensing device (printed circuit) for the air bag.
I returned to the dealer and saw a different parts man.
He looked it up and said the heating element is an integral part of the leather seat swab. Cost £180.
I have ordered it and left the seat at the trimmers. They will deliver the cover to the trimmer in the morning.
Fingers crossed???

All went well, trimmer did a nice job.
I re-fitted the seat and connected the battery. I had to re-set the windows, head rest and ESP/ABS
(turn steering left to right???)
New cover puts the rest of the leather to shame. I'll have to get cleaning.
Oh, it works great. I hope we get the cold spell we are forcasted.
All in all an easy job.
