E320 CDI Avantgarde (2001) / A200 CDI Elegance (2005)
I plan to upgrade my wife's A 200 CDI (W169) with a COMAND-APS GPS

I'm trying to list what I need for it.

I've already listed the following items :
- The COMAND-APS itself
- The GPS antenna.
I've seen in the forum that the GPS antenna can be installed into the dashboard (instead of on the roof)
Is it OK for satellite reception and which antenna model can be installed in this location ?
- The console plate (where is installed the Air Conditionning control)
The car has actually a radio AUDIO 5 CD; I suppose I need to replace this plate by a smaller one (because the COMAND is higher than the AUDIO 5).
May I change something else to move (down) the Air conditioning control system ?
- A visit to my Mercedes Benz dealer (for Star Diagnosis programming)

What else do I need (wiring , ....) ?

Thanks in advance for all the advices

You need the very short cable which joins the GPS antenna to the COMAND. You also need an instruction manual, felt tape to reduce rattles, navigation disc and AUX cable for audio input.

- COMAND
- GPS antenna
- GPS joiner for COMAND
- face plate for climate controller
- AUX cable for sound
- manual
- felt tape for anti-rattle
- MB packing to hold GPS antenna into place
- cluster hooks
- MB coding

- T20 screw driver
- plastic trim wedge

Let me know how much you want for the audio 5.

Go see my document on this at www.mercupgrades.com - I did COMAND-APS, CD changer and AUX input all at same time. If you dont do CD, AUX input (or IPOD!) then the glovebox doesnt need to come out and if you don't bother with the roof antenna (the GPS antenna works well under the dash) then theres only the central dashboard panels that need to come out.

I changed from an Audio 20, so as you have single height unit you have to buy the appopriate plastic plate as you can see the need for things to move about a bit, and probably the power-adapter loom - but take a look at whether thats there already or not - I've only ever seen Audio-20 in A class since thats what we in the UK now get as standard to "justify" the expensive prices here ..

The "big" issue is coding - if the unit you use came out of a car with other audio accessories (phone, CD, sound-system) and yours has none of those then it will need coding using Star Diagnosis. Also, getting the cluster enabled to show the navigation settings can be a headache as dealer has to do multi-stage process of updating MB database (FDOK) to say car has COMAND, waiting for that to happen (a week in the UK) then re-coding the cluster (as the SCN code he needs comes from the MB database)

Cheers
