i can now use my factory fitted comand in my c270 cdi (2002 model) but it only registers oo sat .ive navigated from norfolk to my home about 100 miles without getting lost so the unit is working .ive looked in the error list and theres nothing there .the cd version ive got is 4.00.how many sats should it see or is it working correctley. any help much appreciated

I've had 0 sats before, mostly in tunnels but once on the open road when the plug for the antenna literally fell out of the back of the unit ;)

You should routinely see 3-4 satellites most of the time. The most you will see is 8, the least obviously 0. Three are required to fix your position. The COMAND will work without any satellites as it uses the speed pulse and the gyro to determine your position. however, it may well sometimes show you on the wrong road and will then need satellites to re-fix your position.

It sounds like you have an antennae fault. Suggest you pull the unit out and try a different antennae or see if the existing one is properly connected.

can you tell me the part number for the antenna and also where it is please

Hi,

It could be on the rear screen by the roof, it could be under the dash or behind the instrument cluster.

The best bet is to pull the unit out and see if its still connected. You say 'your factory fitted' COMAND. Did you buy the car from new with COMAND or did the previous owner tell you it was factory fitted?

Where are you based? I can probably loan you an antennae to try or if you want a trip to Woking, we can pull the unit out and take a quick look at it for you free of charge.

it was fitted at the factory as ive got the original sales invoice. there seems to be 2 aerials under the rear headlining one in the middle and another to the nearside which i assume is the radio aerial

Let me know if you want to come down and we'll find the fault for you.
