COMAND not pointing the way

Hi All, my COMAND NTG1 on the E, although showing exactly the right position on the road, has developed a problem knowing which way the car is pointing!

The map normally swivels to match your direction of travel but now, (only) some of the time, the map does not swing as the car does. Therefore the little cursor ends up going sideways on the screen.

Going into the satellite display shows 8 satellites tracking....

What is this likely to be?

Hi, yes I tried a full reset as well (losing all my stored destinations) - no change. Its definitely trying to set "in direction of travel" but seems to "stick" when we go around bends etc so the cursor ends up going sideways.

Ours very occasionally 'sticks' a little when negotiating tight bends, but it always (so far!) manages to get a hold of itself in a second or two at the most.

It would be interesting to set it to "north up" or whatever it is called, to see what happens then...

Sorry I can't offer any practical advice.

Just a thought, but the "Direction up" mode is only active when actually navigating a route. If you just select the "Map" function to see where you are it only does "North up".

Cheers guys. Tried the suggestions - still the same (works the same whether in map or nav mode?).

A dodgy gyroscope component in the comand unit/navigation drive.

Ah.... fixable? How much £? The unit is also a few yards "behind" reality when zoomed to max.

I would try a different navigation drive myself.

I have one if you want to pop over and we can try it.
