Had this now 2 or 3 times on the way back from the south The DVD is in and has been fine then it thinks it isnt there, I get the map for a short while ,and then the map dissapears and we get the please insert DVD message tried ejecting and reinserting ( excuse me ! ) to no avail and after about 15-20mins of it i turned the Nav off, interestingly enough it continues giving the directions just no map display . Turned the nav map back on nearer home and all was fine so has anyone had this issue ???? Its on my 2007 Vito
Does it need a cleaning DVD / CD inserted
iWhen I think about it I think the last time it happened it was possibly in the same area ( southampton ) so could it be are related ie one part of the DVD ???
I shall monitor its behaviour closely over the next few weeks but its all likely to be local
Cheers & Happy New Year Folks !!

Sounds like the laser starting to fail.
Cleaning the dvd and/or using a laser cleaning disc might get it working for a while.
Is it a copied disc by any chance?

Yes , it came from one of the main Internet Satnav Disc suppliers so not a Dealer issued Merc One been fine for at least 12-18mths it is Its nagging me that it did " seem " to happen in the same area of the country tho, which again would point at the Disc me thinks

Hmmm not what i wanted to hear but knowledge reigns
Looks like another win for google maps on the iphone then In fact when i think about it it makes me wonder why i am still using comand ?? because in a straight comparison its a hands down win for the iphone

Do you still have the original CD that came with the car?

If so pop it in and you'll find out soon enough if the fault is with the CD media or with the CD drive.

I had this happen in the very hot weather. The disc got very hot for some reason and warped very slightly I think. Got a new (internet) disc and all has been we'll ever since

I'm hoping I have the original disc so I'll check it out all I have to do is find it ....................
