Command goes down after fitting LED side lights. I bought and fitted a set of LED side lights(parking) which I was informed worked without a CAN Bus error. After initially installing they did not go on but after switch off and then on the ignition they worked and I then noticed the Command failed to work. I have AC at the bottom of the screen but no music or sat-nav options and all other parts of the car work like locking with mirrors folding and lights go on. So I replaced the bulbs with the originals again but the Command still fails to work. Even after disconnecting the batteries and reconnecting to initiate a reboot the system Command fails. After having a DAS run by my local Mercedes service garage (who have suggested it comes in for further investigation) I was wondering if there was anything else I could try first. This was the result of said test.
Event memory:-
Code D015 - The MOST network was shut down due to insufficient battery voltage
Code D153 - Fault in CAN communication with control module ABR or CGW :dk:

Hi there. Any engineer had this problem before or could give an indication to the repair of this fault would be appreciated.

OK. I found the site but it has flaws and I am not sure how you think they can help.
Regards John

Did you disconnect the battery whilst changing the lights? I see you did it afterwards but just trying to determine what caused the audio issue.

This looks a separate issue. The lights are driven from the front SAM control unit which is completely separate to the audio system.

I suspect the amplifier (which contains the tuner and other audio control functions) has an issue or something else on the audio fibre optic network ("MOST" network) has completely failed. This is not uncommon.

The term "CAN bus error free" is really a rubbish term, it should be "bulb failure detection compatible" but that is not as "magical". The front SAM monitors the resistance of the bulbs (well, the current use) and if its wrong they flag an error (which happens to be communicated over the car's network which is the CANbus as a message which the cluster picks up and displays a nice error message for you).

If you fancy a trip to alfie at Mercedes Retrofit Specialist - Comand.co.uk he will diagnose exactly what has failed for you

Hi Richard. I have tried the link but only the front page comes up . Could you tell me where they are based and a contact number please.
Regards John

Sorry I forgot to say no I did not disconnect the battery while changing the bulbs. I only did after reading you could do a re-boot system to try and fix the problem.

Thanks, with a little more looking I have found the information. Thank you again.

Johncook, just in case you haven't come to it just yet, these guys are in lightwater, surrey, an easy drive up the M3.
I wouldn't even think twice about it, these guys are the Comand gurus, just go!!
(ps I have no affiliation, I'm just a happy customer).

I paid them a visit last week ,well worth the trip from Brum.
Boy do they know their stuff, they are very friendly too ,with a nice cafe over the road.

Hint to find them :

They trade from a car audio shop with no mention of comand on the door or shop front ,they have large workshops behind the block of shops.

Hi All. After dropping it in at my local service station they did a complete diagnostic test and found no faults so carried out a re-install factory reset of command unit and all functions are now operative.(cost £140 ). Just a glitch they said!!!!!! They recommend a software update for the command unit as my car is a 2007 and has not had any. (another £75). I have given the go ahead but wondered what changes will I see if any or is this just MB addressing errors in the factory issue.

They ripped you off, you could have done this reset yourself through the comand "secret" diag menu. (Hangup-Hash-1 Button trick)

I would ask them to do a complete Update of whatever can be updated for the price, else a indy would be able to do the same work for smaller money.

As far I know the AUX Audio Level is now adjusted to the other sources - more options in Navigation Menu + TMCpro ... that's all as far I know :dk:

Hi There. I must have a different layout as there is a Hang-up button on the steering wheel but no numerical number pad anywhere in the car. Command was not working to give any display?. The rest is good to know thank you.

I spoke to the engineers today while the car was having a service about fitting alternative brighter side lights and was informed only an error message would show if they are not acceptable and the command would not be effected. :thumb: So on a dry day I will remove the inner wheel arch covers to get access and exchange the side bulbs for either LED`s (£10.00)or if they fail the brighter blue type (£2.00). :bannana:
