command postcodes ??

i have a command system in the ML55 AMG but cant figure out if you can put in a destination by post code only ....no book with the car

is the DVD upgradeable to a newer version say 2007 ?? are they car specific due to wheel size rolling diameter etc ?? sorry for the numpty questions but im just learning .........


love the way the car just rumples up the road behind it and shoots for the horizon like a stabbed rat .....no drama no wheel spin ...just grunt grunt grunt !!!

Comand 2 as fitted to the ML55 will allow partial postcodes. The navigation disks from 2004 onward had it as standard provided the comand has had at least the basic MY01 update.

The way to use a partial postcode is to simply spell out the postcode instead of a town name. However you will be limited to five digits of the postcode thats all.

Only found out that I could use 5 digit postcodes in my W209 CLK after owning the car for almost 5 years. Thought I knew it all. I had to upgrade to a 2010 (had the original 2003 disk) after my wife was Navigating in London and Comand took her to Croydon instead of Chislehusrt. She missed the party she was attending and was not a happy bunny.
New disc working well and have moved it into the new SL.

thanks for the usefull info ...when i get an updated DVD for the command ( 2004 i think i saw one on fleabay ) i take it they are simply plug and play ?? or do i need to go the main stealers for an upgrade software license ??

Plug and play.

Beware of copies there are lots around including some that even come in genuine looking packaging. They will wear out your laser prematurely.

Thanks for the heads up Alfie , its much appreciated , i will look for a genuine DVD i suppose post 2004-5 would be better ?
