Yesterday on returning home from Lancashire the sat nav directed me onto a road (A59) that was closed and it was definitely closed. Even after following the diversions it was directing me to get back onto the original route. Now my previous COMMAND would recognise a hold up on the advised route and automatically redirect me, anyone know why the difference?

Is the “Dynamic” routing option selected? If not, it will ignore road closures and traffic.

Also, is the Live Traffic subscription active?

I use Waze and it does not always know of closed roads.

I am assuming that with real time traffic it just takes time for road closures to be updated, even when drivers report them etc.

Especially given that many road closures are for emergency work and not planned in advance.

If the SatNav does not know of a road closure, then reat time traffic might actually divert you there because the closed off section of the road appears to be clear of traffic.....

Subsription is up to date but I've changed the route setting to Dynamic from Fastest so hope that does the trick

Greatly appreciated Phil, thanks

The road had been closed for a week and was showing as such on the map screen however I was wrongly waiting for a route redirection which I've had previously. Thanks to st13phil I've changed the settings, good tip

I use google maps when at work, and often just slot my work tablet over the screen in my car as I don’t trust the Satnav. I find it quite reliable, wish I could route it through my screen

Would an update make the nav more reliable? I assume it’s never been updated

The car is less than a year old so I think it’s up to date. I’m sure st13phil has provided the solution
