Does anyone know where I could buy a brand new COMMAND unit from and the likely cost?

Yes. your local Mercedes dealership and it will cost you circa £2,500. Ditto Braybrooks (www.braybrooks.co.uk)

Alternatively do a search in Google on 'Retrofitting COMAND' you'll get a link (I have it somewhere but cant find it to post it here) to a useful document about how to retrofit COMAND. contained in that document is a few known suppliers of COMAND units.

There is a lot of information within this forum on COMAND retro fits. do a search on MBENZ_NL. Steve Krabbenborg who operates out of the Netherlands seems to be universally regarded as the best source and font of all related knowledge.

Tip: Always try to get the right COMAND for your car. there are many many different types not all work in all cars.

Thanks for the info. Already tried Braybrooks quoted me £2150+VAT, although these are not brand new units I was told.

Will be taking delivery of my car next month, I'll see what the dealership charge!

Do a search on mbenznl, youll get a quality item at a low cost.

Yes i agree, Steve fitted mine in Holland, excellent.

He sent me a self-install kit comprising of a COMAND and a cd multichanger.
Very good person to deal with.

It cost me £1300 total...

The car I am looking to get COMMAND fitted to is a 2006 model CLK, which I am due to take delivery of next month, unfortunately I was too late to amend the factory order.

I have been quoted £1750 all inclusive for a new widescreen COMMAND unit including fitting which seems reasonable compared to Baybrooks which quoted £2150 + VAT for a refurbished unit.

Don't forget that if you want one that was lent to the vendor without the owner's permission, then Ebay is a good place to go. :D

Re - TV Tuner Australia

Hi Everyone, just joined the forum.

I have a new CLK 55 AMG arriving shortly, I am in Brisbane Australia. The clk 55 that is arriving has NAV/Command but no TV. Apparently becuase of the laws in Australia the Digital DVB-t system which is the same as there in England is not allowed in Australia because the Teletext stays on the screen while you are driving. MB are trying to turn it off.

I am looking for a company that can supply the equipment from Engalnd so I can install the the TV system into the latest CLK 55 AMG.

The dealer has a tech that can install anything, even a chamel in the trunk, can anyone point me in the right direction.

GBP 1750 is a good price. It's about the same price if you order a new unit from MBenzNL - either shipped or installed.

Is this the price the dealership quoted you?

greetingz,

This was a non-dealership quoted price, the dealership quoted me apprx £4k all inclusive.

Don't listen to what the dealer tells you. When we went to pick up my dad's car he had forgotten to order the phone kit and the dealer told him it coul;d not ammend the order. When we got to sindelfingen they told us that as long as they had 24hrs notice before the manufacture date it could be altered and told us next time to ring up the factory direct and explain the problem.
Might be worth a try.

Marcos is right. Just bought a new CLK 55 AMG, the dealer said it was to late to add Keyless Go, they said the computer would not let them change the order. I rang MB Head Office here in Australia, spoke to the production manager, they rang Germany last night (due to the time difference) and because the car is not actually on the prduction line yet they were able to change the order.

I think the dealer's don't want to ring Head Office because they get a blast, " you know the rules, the order is closed, get your act together, etc". I mean what is Head Office going to stay to me, "piss off twit". These cars are $225k in Australia with options & onroad costs, they only sell about 300 AMG's of any sort a year here and that includes the AMG sport packs. There is only about 8 to 10 CLK 55 AMG's sold in Australia a year.

Anyway I don't think it makes any differnece whether its AMG or not, I think the dealers get lazy once the deal is closed, they have made there money. It's up to the Service & PR Dept's to keep you happy from there on.

Probably too late now, my car is due to be delivered on 10/9, therefore I assume its on the production line.
