connecting ipod to my c180k

Sorry if this is well documented elsewhere, I did look but no joy.

I have a facelift c180k classic 05 reg on a 54 plate in classic trim, the one with the clear front lenses.

I've read somewhere that I can plug my ipod into the car audio system, I don't have command just the 1-slot cd player in the dash.

I thought that I could get a wee bit of wire and connect the ipod to a socket somewhere in the glovebox but I can't find the hole.

I don't care about being able to use all the car controls to change tracks, playlists etc. I've got a wireless FM tranmitter type connection but the sound is not great.

Please help, I'm faced with at least 2000 miles in the car with the missus over the next 2 weeks and I'll be needing some music to drown out the usual 'slow down' 'I'm hungry/thirsty' 'can we stop for the loo?' 'don't drive so close' 'keep your eyes off that girl'

Cheers......

If its fitted, its on the left hand side at the front of the top shelf. Its a normal mini headphone type socket. Its very easy to see (and works well!)

If its not there, then you will have to retrofit...there are links somewhere on here to tell you what to buy. If I can find them I will post them here.

I'm sure one of the other members can tell you straight away.

The Aux jack never made it into 04 C Classes im afraid, and since you dont have command the most easiest was to connect your ipod is with an i-trip.

This small unit that attaches to the top of your ipod sends a signal to any reciever like a radio station basically and all you do is tune your radio to that frequency. Simple as that and all for £25/£30.

Ahem ... it is the facelift version therefore the car is prewired up to the part where the left kick panel is. All he needs is the link from the floor to the glovebox.

Sorry to bring back an old thread. When was the facelift version launched? The car I'm looking at doesn't have COMAND but I'd like to get my ipod in there :)

The facelift version was launched in April 2004.
No matter if your car is Comand equiped.
You also can connect your iPod to the Audio 20 system.
