Contisport 5's.

I do not personally think that tyre quality and continents are related...

Yokohama is rightly perceived as top brand and it is not European.

Many European brands - Kleber, Vredestein, Fulda, Gislaved, to name a few - are not considered 'top brands' and are made in Europe.

So without going into actual tyre test results, on a general note I am not sure I am comfortable with the use of the term 'European Brands' - some are good, some are bad, like with so many other things.

Uniroyal do manufacture and carry out R & D in the USA, the Euro side of the Uniroyal name also has manufarturing and R & D facilities located here within the EU.

To say they are not a euro brand is incorrect. .

That's like saying Apple is chinese because it is made in China.

Uniroyal is an American brand, it started in the states, the HQ is in the states and from what I can tell, they are made in the states.

Dunlop, until not long ago, were made NZ, but any kiwi would not consider them a NZ brand.

But that's fine, if that is how you associate things and you consider Uniroyal a euro brand, that is your prerogative.

Avons are British, but owned by an American company, I would still consider them British, but by your reckoning they must be American.

Feel free to ring/mail Uniroyal's HQ and ask the question.

Clearly never heard of Fort Dunlop then..

I have just out 4 on my cooper S and 4
On the gf's fiestas - had the rainsport 2 on previous cars and always liked them

I have Conti SC5's all round however I've just noticed they do a SC5P as well. Does anyone know the difference and is the 5P supposed to be any better?

Won't solve a thing calling them.

What has Fort Dunlop got to do with what I said? I know it is Dunlops old factory in Birmingham, but I was saying just because it was a well known brand in NZ, it is not a NZ brand.

You are confusing brand ownership with brand recognition. Uniroyal originated in the states, yes? we can agree on that?

Therefore, it is a US brand, that is now sold in europe.

Anyway, that is all by the by, way off topic. End of the day, I am happy with them and they are doing a good job of replacing my Pirellis, and will likewise when I replace the fronts as well.

Korean tyres OEM?

Kia cars come with Nexen.

BMW Minis come with Hankook.

Spotted this brand new W205 today, factory-fitted with Hankook tyres:

I use Continental sport contact 5 all round. The ride comfort is good, grip seems excellent in wet and dry conditions, and noise seems generally ok, but can be noisy on some motorway surfaces (concrete?) but not usually a problem for me.

They seem to be lasting quite well, but then this is an s-class and I treat the car with respect and don't 'floor it' very often.
