Should be brake fluid renewed as well. Think the dealer is a tad expensive.

Service B
2 yr items brake fluid/ pollen filter

Independent Specialist all the way.

Question for Wayne (or anyone else that knows): Can Independents report the servicing to MB and it feature on the electronic history record, or does MB not play ball?

Yes most indie specialists can log the servicing on the electronic records

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards indie specialist.

In your experience what is a reasonable price for B service. I was quoted £300 and was wondering if it should be cheaper?

They have to make the service plans on new cars look like good value.

As Terry (WG) has already confirmed above, any reputable MB indy will be recognised by Mercedes UK and have direct access to the on-line Mercedes Digital Service Book.

If you take it to an indie you will lose your dealer supplied Mobilo cover.. What about a service plan for next 3 services? B,A,B might work out reasonable..

Hi I have checked my online quote and it has me being liable to pay 856 for service b... surely I should be able to pay less than that? Does any one know an approved Mercedes service in the east London area I can go to that will be able to log the service on the Mercedes system?

I heard Halfords can and it's 250 I'm not sure though... hekp

My car is an slk250 cdi

Do not take your car to Halfords for starters. 300 from a good indie sounds about right. Why not ask both dealer and i die to tell you what's included for the money?

For example my recent b service was only oil and filters change but there is also an inspection element which includes the following:
Removal of wheels and checks on running gear/breaking system/suspension.
Removal of undertray and checks for leaks and state of engine mounts etc.
Battery check including key fob.
Etc.......

A good indie is worth finding.

Whenever you get a quote for a service always ask which age/mileage related items (if any) are included in the price, because this is the only way you can compare prices. For example, “Garage 1” may quote only for the service only, and “Garage 2” may quote for the service, plus spark plugs, transmission fluid, brake fluid and air filter. Garage 2 could do the service free but the quote would still look expensive compared to Garage 1 as the additional age/mileage related items are often the reason for “expensive” service quotes.

About half of what you have bern quoted is for the Service B itself the other half is for 'additional items'.

Look for a good independent specialist, or, if you prefer dealer service, then look at taking-out an MB Service Care Plan.

I am not aware of any trusted independents in East London but depending on where you are you might consider Wayne Gates in Harrow (a forum sponsor, see post #4 above) who is renowned. I use MercServices who were also mentioned above, and can vouch for them, but they are in Mitcham so perhaps a bit of a cross-London trek for you. There’s also Cowdray in Colchester who have been praised on the forum before. All have the Mercedes Star system so can do everything hat your MB dealer can do, except keep up your warranty/mobilo if you still have it. There are sure to be others closer to you but none that I can recall seeing discussed on here.

+1 for Terry at Wayne Gates.
