Whilst changing the thermostat on my w203 220cdi I have accidentally snapped a brittle "T" piece on a fuel pipe, & I'm hoping that someone can tell me what the pipe is & what it's called.

The pipe has a white plastic slide clip to loosen & is fitted to the top of what I think is the fuel pump(black in colour & has 748 CN7 stamped on it) at the front of the engine. The pipe runs down & to the right & front of the engine (when viewed looking front to back of the car ) where there is a "T" piece, the orignal pipe continues behind the drive belt & around the unit where it joins back ito the unit marked 748 CN7;the off shoot of the "T piece goes up to a white coloured valve which is mounted on top of the rail.

Could someone help me please ?

hopefully the attached photo's will appear on this post

This is quite common when changing the Thermostat. It is probably best to change all three fuel pipes IMO as they get very brittle.

The cost is approx £70 for all three and you will need two clips for the line that goes behind the belt into the fuel pump.

Regards.

It's one of the low pressure fuel lines, the bit on the end is a bleed valve.
Seriously if you've gone this far just replace all 3, the ones for my W210 E320 were £85

There are two pumps in your picture, the aluminium one is the lift pump from the fuel tank, the black one is the high pressure pump to the common rail

The aluminium one is the vacuum pump, not the lift pump.

The aluminium one is the vacuum pump for your brake servo!!!!!!!!

Whoops Dieselman beat me to it

Thanks to all,
Graeme, I wish I could read that link honestly !
I'll likely as not replace all 3 pipes now , but just in case I don't I assume the pipe & t piece I've broken goes for the high pressure pump up to the rail ( it's the one in the photo where the clip is disconnected & has a clearish plastic end

The bit on the end is actually used for a MB plug-in tool to measure pressure at the low pressure fuel pump.

The system is self bleeding.
