couple of questions

just got myself a mercedes for the first time and it is great.
i have got a couple of questions if any body can help.
i've been reading some of the post and am a bit confused about pre and post facelift on the w202. can anybody tell me what year the facelift w202 came out.

second, does anybody know how i can get white dials for my 202 any help would be appreciated

Good morning illidan. The facelift W202 came out in July 1996,any W202 manufactured before that was know a pre-facelift. I disagree.

Well., we probably can agree as there were a number of changes. The two main ones IMO are the change of the dashboard (possibly around '96) and then the later style interior, bumpers, headlights and bootlid - this was very late '97/early'98.

I would class a post facelift car '98 or newer to avoid confusion.

My December 1996 C180 Esprit had a facelift bootlid, but that's all.

The W202 started production in 1993, there was a minor facelift in 1995 when the tail lamps became red/white rather than red/amber/white, some engine and suspension changes in 1996 and then the big facelift was 1997.

Does your W202 have a traditional or flip-style key? Pre-facelift.

Does your W202 have airbags in the front doors? Facelift.

Lots of things can be retrofitted but those items are pretty much fixed.

my key is the flip type, i only have an airbag on the drivers side,
and the tail lights are red amber clear so i presume this means i have got the pre facelift.

is it possible to put the 2.3 16v cosworth engine into the c180 as i have a thing for old school engines or is it just a pipe dream?

Instead of changing the engine, you could fit Koolvin's turbo kit.
