Crabbing - Is it down to the tyres?

I'll see what Terry thinks of mine. It drives fine, though the engine is a little more audible in the cabin than on the CLK, so if it would pass an MoT, I'll leave it alone for the present; the MoT is due in May anyway.

Mine passed the MOT. And I asked both Tony Bones and Terry to check it and they couldn't figure out what's causing it because everything was spot on (as far as they could check without dismantling).

Tony Bones replaced the hydrobushes at my request, they were indeed in poor state but replacing them didn't cure it.

Terry suggested replacing the drop links (which he did) and checking the top mounts on the front struts - and he found that the rubber bushes were faulty, replaced them, and this fixed it. He was also prepared to also replace the top mount bearings, but they were good so he just refitted them. I kept the car for 5 more years, the issue never came back.

Yes I could have just ignored it, but it was doing my head in :D
 
It won't do mine in; if I don't reverse on full lock, it doesn't occur...
 
It's full lock, not the clunk, every time...
 
Terry Gates found nothing in the front suspension to cause any problem at MoT, so I'm putting the clunking down as a characteristic rather than a fault for the present. I'll see how it goes.
 
The car is a 2010 E-class convertible (A207). I'm occasionally getting a distinct clunk from the front end, the tyre on the inside of the turn, when reversing on full lock, which I do every time I turn in to my drive. I've never had it with my usual (for several years) Goodyear Eagle F1s on my other cars, but the A207 is on Contisports, which I don't recall having before, and the weather is pretty cold. Is this the crabbing I've seen referred to on here from time to time?

4-5 mm, and 21/23. The outer shoulders are wearing more than they should, so it may need a suspension alignment, but it may just be as a result of the tyre pressures being never checked; all four were well down, the Ditchfinder on the left rear on 21 psi. The best was the right rear, on 31 psi. The recommended pressure is 36 psi all round...
