thought I had a flat tyre yesterday. After bending the MB bar, pulling muscles in my back, going to Halfords and getting a breaker bar I took it to the tyre place I use and there is a big crack on the alloy in the inside edge.

I can get one from MB, sent from Germany, for about £570. Would that be the best option? I took it to a few welding places and they wouldn't touch it.

You could maybe find one on ebay but be careful its a Patent part and not a copy AMG wheel.

+1. I'd try eBay first ensuring the Part numbers match your own wheel.
Too many copies around being passed off as oem looking at the eBay ads.

The real McCoy Amg 19's are pants. They're prone to cracking. Mine cracked ages ago one after the other. Think it doesn't help the pressure your supposed to run in the tyres.

I've lost count how many times I've read about this. Mb should get there act together.

Get it welded. I have had quite a few done by my local fabricators.

thanks for the replies

I cant see much on Ebay, they all look like replicas to me.

I asked two welders where I work in Wembley and both of them said they were not confident it was safe to weld it

cant blve paople still slag off non mb wheels when it comes to replacing yes youve guessed it a crappy mercedes wheel thats prone to cracking

Welcome to the club.

All four of mine had cracked. A couple were re-welded before I purchased the car and they were the ugliest slug welds I have ever seen, but granted didn't crack again whilst I used them. The front two eventually cracked after no time at all, and like you I found out when I walked to my car to find a flat. I kicked off at my MB dealer who supplied the car and eventually they gave me four new alloy wheels however, while I battled I had the front two welded properly and they stood up like a champ.

Getting new wheels was lucky but if that didn't happen, I'd have run with the welds. I forget the company, they were South London based and did a great job. The weld was totally seamless and inner wheel resprayed.

I didn't want to say due to the relentless comments I'd get for having replica wheels on an Amg. But after mine cracked numerous times I went with a set of reps and they've been on there for years trouble free.

I mentioned copies as I assumed the OP wanted a replacement wheel that was exactly the same as the other three. Copies, replicas , whatever you want to call them certainly have a place if the design and integrity are satisfied.

The OP is in a situation really. 3 oem wheels are good but one is cracked. Only option is to try and get hold of one genuine alloy. For me it was easy because two of my oem wheels had cracks in at same time. Or at least I discovered them at same time. Mine wasn't losing pressure though, but had heard horror story's about having them welded and wasn't about to risk not doing anything until I had to.

I'd settle for a replica, OEM ones crack like hell! Chocolate teapots

The day I finally get my hands on one I already have a set of replica wheels saved in an online basket :D

If it was me , I'd look into replacing all four wheels with some high quality aftermarket wheels, something like BBS CH-R's would look awesome on the C63 . Should cost less than 1400 in 19" with discount .

I'd then sell the remaining 3 standard wheels or get the damaged one repaired and use as winter wheels

I keep seeing people saying MB OEM wheels but to be fair, they are made by a third party and in most cases well known third parties, usually stamped on the inside of the wheel!

as some of you guys have said my dilemma is that I have 3 good (for now) OE alloys. So I would either want to replace with another OE or replace all 4 for something else.

I'm sure the replicas are very good but I think it would bug me knowing that so I'd end up spending £1500 - £2000 on some BBS or something.

I'm going to get it welded on Monday at First Aid wheels in West Hampstead. They have refurbished a few sets for me before and was happy. So I figure give it a go and see how it turns out.

Got to be worth having ago as you seem happy running repaired wheels (I make no judgement just some people are not).

Seems the hard bit is getting some one good and skilled to do the repair.

Regards OEM wheels, yes they crack easy that's a fact proven time again. The worst I have known for cracking where brabus wheels at 18" they seemed good but go up to 19 or dare I say 20“ then the fun begins.

For what it's worth I would do exactly what your doing as at the very least it buts you some thinking time.

You must not be looking hard enough as there were a few on ebay (genuine) Also they are just under £700 from Mercedes
