Hi All,

Having researched several threads on DAB issues and retrofitting, I am looking for some guidance on what to do in the case where a DAB receiver has died and needs to be replaced? This is the case for my E350 (W212). If I simply replace the unit in the boot with an identical part number, will MOST throw any errors and will there need to be any re-coding? Physically replacing the unit looks to be very simple - but my concern is once it's powered on. Or will it be seamless and the system will be unaware there's been a h/w swap?

You are meant to change it and do 'Initial Startup' in Online Star Diagnosis / Xentry Diagnosis. (few have Online diagnosis systems *and* the correct software update disks, COMAND.co.uk does)

- This does three things
1) Upgrade the firmware to the latest version
2) Configure any configurable options (and these relate to antenna power in a DAB tuner)
3) Updates the records at Mercedes (veDoK) to show what has been changed

You could be lucky and have a unit with the current firmware with correctly configured options and it just works - but you may find you get no signal, and you may find odd behaviour if it has incompatible firmware with the head unit - or it has buggy firmware (particularly likely with the silver tuners)
