Hi my dash cam has started to flash up ( wrong cluster ? )
It only does this when I first start my car, only flashes up for a few seconds so don't know how long it's been doing this as it's hidden behind my mirror from the drivers seat, it was only noticed when a passenger pointed it out.
My cam was fitted by halfords so I'm guessing it's been hard wired into my power outlet in the console.
Any ideas what this is and should I have it checked out.
My cam is a NextBase
Cheers

Hi thanks for the reply but my cam is hard wired so comes on automatically when I start the car, it's also got its own power supply so it don't drain the battery when the cars not running?
Will call in halfords when I finish tomorrow get them check it out cheers

I don't use the same dashcam as you but lately mine has been restarting like mad for no apparent reason. It turns out it was a faulty memory card. Dashcams need a very specific memory card (must have MLC flash) so it can read/write constantly without becoming useless after a while.

i don't know if that is the cause of your problem.

Dashcam

Hi
I too have just bought a Nextbase dashcam and Halfords are fitting it tomorrow. I want to be sure it is hardwired correctly so any advice on where the connection should be picked up from would be much appreciated.

I had a Nextbase dash cam which is now in the wife's car.

Mine kept switching on and off, Halfords returned it to makers, it turned out to be a battery issue which was replaced under warranty.

Not sure re Ops post though as mine was not hard wired.

Took it in halfords and apparently it was my SD card had not been mounted correctly.
Anyway it's working fine now, said I should check it from time to time as they recon my hard suspension may have shook it out of it's mount.
Thanks for all the replys much appreciated cheers

Sorry Pal never seen how they fitted it, so can't advise on connections
Think they wired mine into the power outlet in the centre console, as I can see the cables go behind the glove box and feed into the console :thumb:

Had mine fitted today. They have done a very neat job, wired to the fuse box in the boot too. :thumb:

Just a note, Dash cams have two Cons: first is that most use LiPo batteries built in. under high temperatures they tend to fail especially they are behind your front screen and the sun would heat them up. 2nd problem the MicroSD Cards should be a Class10 SDHC or SDXC (bit better) these have a limited life which is mentioned on the leaflet that comes with it so a memory card may do good for two three years.
Best place to get more information is the great guy TECHMOAN on youtube he explains all these details If you are new to Dash Cams (Car DVR's, Car Cams etc) - then this is a good place to start.
