Managed to figure out how the chrome trim fits into the tailgate section, by using floss and taking time to slice through the doublesided 3m foam backing holding the trim to the base, I was then able to unclip the chrome section from its base. This fitting method should be the same for most Mercedes of this era. Just waiting for the paint to dry, opted for paint code 040 Mercedes black or schwarz black, which is the original night pack colour.

I'm not a fan of wrap, wanted to achieve a paint finish to match the original night pack shade. I don't believe this trim is available from Mercedes dealers in nightpack colour hence the custom work.

OEM boot spoiler installed, tackling the door window arch in night pack colour. 🙂20221203_143412.jpg20221203_143505.jpg20221203_151951.jpg

Nice, I’m a fan of black wrap on chrome either!

How was the door trims to take off ?

Should be easy, found this video useful on YouTube, will be doing that soon 👍

That chrome bit by the boot handle will look pants in black imo, especially so close to the other bar of black that is the spoiler. I'd do it in body colour, doesn't need to be accented.

You definitely can't buy the boot trim in black from Mercedes (c63) that's why mine is still chrome 😔

Some contrasting options, from nightpack, blacked or chrome emblems, body colour spoiler etc 😉Screenshot_20221117-214421_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20221117-214314_Samsung Internet.jpgScreenshot_20221117-214239_Samsung Internet.jpg

It doesn't actually, looks great, especially on a White car, as you can see I've got a Black and White theme going, looks good, imo of course. 😉🙂👍

Why aren't you a fan of black gloss wrap on the chrome out of interest?
Yep...it just as good as paint if done well. The problem with paint is there is no going back....as if you want the paint to stick to chrome for more than five minutes then it needs to be seriously scuffed up or it will just peel off....ruining the chrome finish forever. Wrap will peal off leaving the chrome good as new when you want to sell the car.

I have no experience in wrap, need a steady hand with the craft knife, one slip could leave cut marks on the car body work and then the car is ruined. Yes it's less downtime and reversible but you can tell its been wrapped.

Whereas with paint, it's an oem colour match. If you mess up, you sand back and repaint. Best to use 2K, two part paint, it's hard as nail compared to 1k. Obviously for a good finish, you do need good preparation, a bit of patience but the end result is worth it. Avoid off the shelf rattle cans. You can get professional grade 2k spray paint made from car body paint shops that supply paint to vehicle repairers. In my opinion i believe painted finish is far superior 🙂

Too right, wrap always looks like plastic. Good paint looks $1m.

Bit too barcode like for me but doesn't look terrible. My C63 is also white with black bits. Black works well on white as it contrasts. It's where people use black willy nilly that gets me, you often lose the contrast and the whole point of it being chrome was to be an accent. Seems to be too much hassle for people to bother colour matching these days.

Looking rather good! 😎🙂👍
