Dell on Ebay

All you need now is a Action Pack subscription (for cheap Vista Business)

Probably being lazy - but a bit more info about this?

Thanks

You need to be in the IT business.... then you can become a Microsoft Partner. This allows you to test (internal to your company only, not for resale) all of MS's software - including Vista. Have a look at:

Thanks for this. I stopped being lazy and did a search!

I work for a triple-gold partner so can't subscribe. And my company refuses to allow employees to use software at home, even though the licence we have allows for most of it! (**** and Paranoia are the 2 words for which you are searching!)

Love the way MS avoid mentioning the cost! What is it incidentally?

£199.00 + VAt - but you can do this as a sole trader......

It's interesting they have started a shop on eBay, their former outlet website is still running. I bought a laptop from this last year and am still very happy with it. Seem to be some good deals to be had on eBay though. Half tempted to buy one just to have as a dedicated "media centre" and free up my laptop.

Thanks to WLeg's post I've just got quite a good spec machine for £400.00....my current desk top is on it's last (six years plus) legs. So thanks WLeg!

Questions are, being a bit lazy here....I seem to remember that XP pro has a Transer Utility? Am I right? Also, when I upgraded my current machine to XP pro I did a numptie and installed FAT32, can't remember why, could this be a problem? If this is all nonsense....is there a reliable, good, and preferably cheap migration utility anyone knows of?

Thanks folks.

start, run, cmd then type convert c: /FS:NTFS

and it will convert from FAT32 to NTFS - only worth doing if you need the security (if it's a laptop - you do.....)..

The transfer wizard works OK - but is very slow.... easier to copy the profile yourself.

Look in c:\documents and settings\ your name - you will probably only need the documents, favorites folders. - If you use Outlook Express or Outlook for email you will need to copy the mail folders as well - they are hidden though - PM if you need details.
